Hi guys

I want to know if I have sync 2 or 3 please? The ad for this car says its been upgraded to sync 3 but when I typed the software version it's saying sync 2.

Can anyone tell by looking at the picture attached? 

I have tried googling and it says click on settings, click on general then click on sync but I can't find the button for general.

Many thanks @unofix it seems it is the sync 2. Seems like the seller has lied. Will ring them and complain but don't really think they will do anything about it though. 

Hey guys does this mean I will need to leave the car back at the garage while they install sync 3 in? I was thinking about doing it myself if they have the sync 3 kit but I have a feeling I will break bits of the dash board.

They have got a good reputation, I will ring them tomorrow and see what they will say. 

Looking at the videos of the sync 3, it does look like it's more responsive compare to my one. I have to press quite hard on the screen to get each letters up and the sat Nav is very slow to load up and filling out addresses. 

I upgraded my SYNC2 to SYNC3 following this YouTube  video:

The SYNC3 unit came from the following person. He can set-up the unit to suit your car. For example, on mine, satnav, rear camera, etc., thus not needing to do your own set-up using FORScan:

In addition, you'll need a new GPS aerial (fits under the dashboard) and possibly an interface module swop (in the armrest) if using an IOS phone.

Upgrading to the latest Ford specification can be done through CYANLABS (currently Version Sync 3.4.23188, Maps F13 (2003)  -EU (10-2024):

The upgrade gives a much better performance than the SYNC2, but to me, the best advantage is using WAZE/Google Maps/Carplay/Android Auto etc.

In addition, I have set mine up for wireless connection and charging, but that's another story!

The eBay link is for the person's eBay site that can supply a SYNC3 APIM Module suitable for your car. Contact him, give him the details of your car and tell him that you want to convert it from SYNC2 to SYNC3.

Kevin would probably supply the unit with the latest updates already installed.
