Hi Im wondering if any other members have had this issue with this particular engine. I believe its the 74 bhp engine. Its only done 37k miles.Car attempts to start battery seems ok was tested by RAC man. There are no error messages.

Check the cambelt.

Sounds like a fantastic RAC man who says "your battery's ok mate, there's no error messages, I'll leave it with you."

Hope its not the cambelt.Car is on HP dont know my rights as regards the finance company taking it back as its been in the garage 5 times in a year with faults only done 4k miles.

The cambelt was due at 10 years old.  If that has failed because it wasn't done on time then I doubt the finance company would be interested.

I think you can see part of the camshaft through the oil filler hole with the oil cap off on these.  Just need someone else to turn the engine over while you look through the hole to confirm whether that moves or not.

I believe Ford updated it to every 8 years as regards the timing belt.I bought the car at 9 yo so its not going to be straightforward dealing with the finance company but it may not be the timing belt.

Not for 1.5 TDCI.  112,500 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.
