Anyone know how to reprogram a remote 13a socket?

Featured Replies

I recently bought one of these, it works 100% and is very useful...

I want to buy another and locate it near the original I have, but I want the second remote only to operate the second socket, not the original. It looks like there is a method to 'retune' the remote with the button on the RHS, but sadly the instructions are in pigeon English and I can't understand them. I did message the Ebay seller, but he obviously wrote the instructions LOL

Anyone know a step by step method on what to do?

In short, I don't know about the unit you have.

Similar units are programmed by switching on, and set the switch on the unit to learn.

Next bit is a guess, but it will be press and hold the 'on' or perhaps 'off' button until the light on the unit does something like flash. Then change the switch back to off.

The little remote will have a means to change the transmit code. Often you just open up the back and there will be a couple of little dip switches that you can select a different code.

Keep us updated, would love to know if you find the answer.

No DIP switches, that would be too easy! Will just buy another one anyway, in the words of that famous Top Gear presenter, how hard can it be? 🤣

Can you open the back of the little remote and take a photo please?

My Nan & Grandad had a set of these around 20 years ago, but as they came as a set, they just had one remote with 4 different on/off switches on it.

You may find there isn't a way to change it on a single unit.  I had a similar issue with a new outdoor wireless temp sensor recently.  No way to change the channel on either wireless unit or base unit.  Initially the base unit was picking up another sensor indoors somewhere based on the temp it was showing.  But after a week it somehow switched to it's own outdoor sensor and has been fine ever since!

Also, to add further confusion, I moved the old base unit (the one with the broken outdoor sensor) to another room, and that has since picked up another random sensor that doesn't match any others, it must be from someone else's flat!   Wireless tech is great for convenience, but definitely has it's downsides, especially with so many neighbours in close proximity lol.

Just 'plastic' under battery... I get the feeling with that 'button' on the side of the socket, it is possible if you know the sequence to do it.

That's a weird size battery.  Is it really 12 volts?

Yes, I have come across the battery size before in a remote. The battery threw me initially as I couldn't get the remote to work, till after a few minutes I realised it was tightly shrink wrapped in hard plastic! LOL

I noted on the photo I posted, there is a web site! I have used that to ask the question I posted here. Will post if any news!

Oh, it's an American site so fully expect them to refute any knowledge of the product!

Give this a try. It seems the programming is done while the socket is not plugged in 🤔

Step-by-step instructions:
1. Unplug the outlet:
Remove the BNR-U141Y outlet from the power socket to begin the process.
2. Initiate learning mode:
Press and hold the "Learning & ON/OFF" button located on the side of the outlet.
3. Wait for the light to flash:
Continue holding the button until the indicator light on the outlet begins to flash.
4. Pair with the new remote:
Release the button on the outlet and then press and hold the corresponding "ON" button on your replacement remote control.
5. Confirm pairing:
Once the pairing is successful, the indicator light on the outlet will stop flashing, and it will now be controlled by the new remote.
  • 3 weeks later...

Did you ever manage to get this sorted, or did you just use something different? 🤔
