I need advice on finding an old car

Featured Replies

Hi everybody! I'm new to the chat so I might be in the wrong forum, I apologise for that in advance.

My brother owned a ford focus ST and sold in back in 2008/2009 up in Manchester direction. He's searched the registration number to find out if the car was still in use of which he found it hasn't been on the road since 2019, but it also hasn't been scrapped, written off or exported. He's looking to find the owner of the car to see if they'd be willing to sell the car back to him.

I was wondering if anybody would have advice on finding the car, I have posted in Facebook groups as he's not on Facebook himself, and I'm hoping it will reach the right people. This is an absolute long shot but it's always worth the try.

'Hi,
I was the first registered owner of this vehicle and sold it a chap from Manchester back in 2008/09. I would like to buy the vehicle back and would like the help of social media to track the current owner down.

Reg: RO57 FCA

Ford focus ST SEA GREY. Sold 2008/09.

New owner from Manchester direction

Thankyou!

Contact DVLA, if you pay and have a previous interest in the vehicle, they will pass on your details to the current registered keeper to contact you, if they wish

They won't give you current keeper details though

I think it's about £15

Just because it's not registered as scrap doesn't mean it hasn't been scrapped though.

And be prepared for a shock, it's probably quite wrecked now

It may be a better idea to find a similar car in a better condition

Agreed.  A few of mine are still showing up despite having stripped & scrapped them myself!  Admittedly none as late as 2019 though.  The rules on scrapping were tightened up with the need for a proper certificate of destruction in the mid 2010's, so I would hope the scrap register works a bit more effectively now.

Might be worth trying on the Focus ST Owners site, if you haven't already:
