No, all of the old files are deleted during the update.

During the update the new files will be copied onto the system first. Afterwards all of the old files are deleted. Normally less than 32 GB of the 64 GB storage capacity is in use. The remaining 32 GB are only required for updating.


There have however been SYNC 3 software versions that contained a fault. These software versions do not cleanup the Ivsu_Revoke.txt file that are generated during normal operation. This file keeps on growing and eventually causes insufficient memory during updating.

Another possibility is that a previous unsuccessful update stored files onto the system storage which is taking up the required space.

Can somehow that be fixed?

At this point i feel like unless someone moans to ford then it will never get fixed.

I was going to but haven't got a clue how to contact them regarding sync 3 updates specifically.

I have moaned to them today. Not holding out much hope though.

FORD CRC fobbed me off by suggesting I go to a dealer, even though I told them in my original message that this would incur unnecessary cost and inconvenience, and that I shouldn't have to because their ICT is faulty. I replied beck saying it wasn't acceptable and to provide me with a download link or guidance on how to raise a complaint. Nothing back so far.

It's now been more than 5 months since I got my F14 link. (Don't see this as trolling).😐

Very recently the F14 maps have been officially released for the US.

It is expected that the EU maps will follow within the next 6 Months or so.


Rumors are that F14 is going to be the final update for SYNC 3. It has been 10 Years since SYNC 3 was introduced and history showed that other Ford satnav systems also stopped receiving map updates around 10 Years after its introduction.

Then what? Only by the phone?

Well, when Ford stops releasing map updates for the SYNC 3 system it only seems logical that you have 2 choices:

1: Keep using the old, outdated maps.
2: Connect you phone using Android Auto or Apple Carplay and use Google maps or Apple maps.


To be honest. Ford has supplied free maps for the SYNC 3 system much longer than originally advertised. Depending on country/region the maps would only be free for the first 3 or 5 Years before switching to a paid maps system. This however never happened.

The map updates for the SYNC 2 system also stopped 10 Years after its introduction. I would be surprised if Ford supports SYNC 3 for a longer period.

Against all expectations Ford is going to release a new SYNC 3 system software version. SYNC 3.4 version 26057 is expected to be released shortly.

I've had F13 (through Sync3.0 23219) since last year and F14 since September... in Belgium.

• There's not much gain updating the Sync version if you don't have any problem and if it still doesn't allow you to update the maps.

As far as I understand the version Ford released as the F14 update was in fact the updated F13 map version. This was a mistake and the update was withdrawn by Ford. This is the exact same version that was initially also listed as F14 on Cyanlabs and was later changed to a revised F13 map version.

The revised F13/F14 maps were released in an attempt to solve 3D building rendering issues. This however did not solve the problem, and rumors are that the EU F14 maps are not being released until this problem has been solved.
