Hi has anyone had a random problem with the engine having a hesitation or stutter when accelerating?? It might only happen once on a 10mile drive or not at all. When it does happen it's quite violent and it can be from a standing start or at motorwayspeeds....runs fine and has good performance the rest of the time...

When did it last have a new set of spark plugs?

If you use FORScan you will be able to monitor misfires.

Could be cylinder deactivation kicking in and out too.

Drive in Sport mode.

But yes, change plugs, if you don't know when they were last changed, and try better fuel.

Check air cleaner is clean too

Hi, its had a full service, new plugs air filter, multiple tanks of posh fuel...its even doing it in Sport mode...its violent!

It didn't do it when the garage had it....plus didn't show up anything on the dongle whilst driving. This week its got much worse....just reading another post it mentions about coil packs....as DAVET70 says feels like cylinder deactivation. It does it on cruise control or even in manual mode on an emptymotorway. Still no codes or fault lights and its still intermittent 🫩 😪

If it does it in Sports Mode then it's not Cylinder Deactivation.

As previously mentioned If you get set up with FORScan you can check for Misfires via the Mode 6 Tests. If it is a Misfire then you need to establish whether it is just one Cylinder or all 3, then take your diagnosis from there.

You will only get a Code for Misfires once a certain number have been logged whereas they will all show up in the Mode 6 Tests.
