Parking brake malfunction

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im hoping someone can help.

I have a 2019 ford focus st line the parking brake malfunction came on and red warning light and Amber 1 also. Took it to the garage were he ran a diagnostic on found out it was the caliper on back drivers side. He has since replaced it and car runs great again but the dashboard is still flashing up with the malfunction message and red and Amber light showing plz help.

You need to use Ford suitable diagnostic equipment to read and clear Ford specific DTC's. Generic code readers are unlikely to clear/reset the warning light.

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

The garage i use has a very good and expensive system he tells me that only a ford garage get reset the message and warning lights. Is this true?

Expensive does not = good.

Only a Ford garage can reset the message = untrue.

FORScan will clear and reset all Ford specific DTC's with only two exceptions that I'm aware of. (1) it can not reset a failed ABS pump. (2) it can not reset the 'crash' sensor.

Of course if the repair has been done incorrectly (which I suspect may be the case) then no amount of diagnostic equipment will be able to reset a physical problem.

FORScan is an almost clone of the equipment used by the Ford dealer, and deals with 99% of DTC's.
