Took it for a test drive and came bake to smoke out of the wheels and brakes almost on fire.... that's problem 1, which I could do with some info on figuring out what I may have missed because everything looked as it should and fit nicely into place....... however, this is now held up by problem 2, when putting my wheels back on I've overtightened and snapped my locking wheel nut key..... I have no idea how to search for a part number to replace and the one on ford's website doesn't match my pins. Any advice on getting these off without the key ( I will buy new ones to replace) or perhaps a part number that's specific to the pins I have?

There may well be other suggestions but this item (need to be certain it matches your vehicle) may be the right one based on your photo:

It looks like you need the key card but can always ask the supplier.
Reagrding the smoking brakes, it may be that the operating cylinders were not correctly wound back or other issue leading to over adjustment - did you have to force the pads back in?

Thanks I'll take a look, ( no key card I already checked for that).

The pads fit well, everything slipped into place nicely with just a little wiggle for the latches needed. I fully wound out the cylinders before fitting the new pads, could I have overtightened the 2 piston screws at the back when setting them back in place? Would that cause this issue even?

If you mean the slider pins for the calliper they should be torqued to the correct value with Loctite and unless seriously bent they should allow free movement (need to check that)  so still a mystery?

Regards locking wheel nut key, I had the same problem some years ago and found information on ''you tube''
