DPF Forced regen, oil change

Featured Replies

Greetings!

First of all, I'm sorry to make a new topic, but I don't find information for my question.

So, I did a forced regeneration to my Focus (2.0 tdci T7DB engine code), and I was wondering if it got post injection or fuel vaporized valve system? I fear about the oil dilution, just got 2000km in the oil... My mechanic told if it has the fuel vaporizer valve system not neccesary to change the oil.

Any toughs?

Anyway, sorry for my bad english.🙂

Welcome!

If you have a vaporiser, you don't get oil dilution so that needs to be confirmed by inspection (see below).

Forced regens are to be avoided at most costs and the underlying problem (which you don't give) needs to be tackled.

DPF is usually the victim of something else and, in your case, that may be a blocked vaporiser.

Jimmy has loads of relevant videos to explain:

Thank you for your answer.

I needed a forced regen because a lot of short trips i do with my car, and it can't burn off the soot. Thankfully I managed to buy a little petrol engine car for short trips so I hope my Focus's dpf wont need a forced regen again.

If the system is working correctly then you shouldn't have a problem (it can be monitored by Forscan looking at DPF pressure differential pressure and likely distance between regens etc and any fault codes can also be read)
If the vaporiser is blocked then obviously it won't regen correctly if short trips are the norm.
Looking at what is going on may well give the clues that are needed to sort this and Jimmy's videos show what can be done to avoid forced regens which can seriously overheat the DPF leading to failure.
However, all of that is up to you.

I don't get fault codes, and when it regens Fdpf app shows 450-500celsius temps sometimes go over 500celsius. In forscan i can't read live data for some reason.

I will watch the videos. 😁

Oil dilution is easy to see on the dipstick.  Just check the level before and after regen.

Even on post injection cars I would allow the level to increase by a few mm before I changed it.  Never had any oil related issues doing that.

That looks like regen is taking place but still best to monitor DPF  pressure differential at engine off, idle and 3000 RPM  on a regular basis to see the pattern and any distances between regens for clues.
Do you have a Forscan approved lead?

I don't recognize oil rising, checked before and after forced regen. So it's okay i think. :)

You mean the adapter? Maybe that's the problem, on monday i will loan one from my mechanic, will try with that. Mine is a cheap one with MS and HS switch, so maybe it's not perfectly works with it.

This could well be the problem and @unofix always says:

FORScan:

There are basically two types of FORScan. One for a windows laptop, which can do all diagnostics and also programming, and the alternative is the one for use with a mobile phone. It can do all the same diagnostics as the windows version but it can't make programming changes. The phone version can still clear/reset all DTC's and also reset service reminders such as the oil.
