Maf sensor

Featured Replies

My focus mk4 lit up a engine warning light . I checked the fault code,  I'm not sure if it's a new maf sensor o need or o2 sensors.  Iv included the fault codes below.  I done a recommended test on the maf sensor by unplugging it while the engine was running to see if the car would stop but it didn't,  so my question is should the engine have stopped?? And is the problem the maf sensor?? The car is sluggish at times and surges other times.

Any ideas??

Sorry would not let me upload pic

Hi,

Can you copy the codes if can't upload the picture?

Generally an engine should not stop when the MAF is unplugged.

With those codes it's probably a leak in the air intake pipework.  Or a blockage in the EGR system.  I would not expect any sensor replacement to fix this.

Iv bought a new maf sensor online I'll be changing it Monday to see if it solves the fault codes once I reset them. I will let you know how I get on, thanks for the help. I checked the pipe work it all seems OK, but I might invest in a smoke machine if there not too expensive. Cheers

I'd not rely on your 'Topdon' code read to give all of the DTC's especially the Ford specific ones.

If you mean 1.5 Diesel then it is an EcoBlue not an EcoBoost.

Yes eco blue

Ok, there are 2 different EGR coolers available for this engine.  Is yours behind the engine or in front?
