Focus rs mk2 mudflaps

Featured Replies

Hi

Looking for some mudflaps for the focus, ill be honest I was never a fan but the roads locally are getting worse, theres loads obviously for sale but looking for the most inconspicuous if thats possible ha and wondering if the 4mm pvc ones that come in matt black are ok? Just heard some of the thicker ones can be problematic if they hit off something with not much flex in them but most of the thinner ones are in gloss black

Thinks in advance

Have always used Rallyflapz on my mk2 ST, they’re maybe 3mm thick though could actually be 4mm. While they are a gloss finish I’ve thought they look ok.

As they are a generic size to some extent I’ve had to trim an inch or so off the front ones to account for the car being lowered. They’d just get a bit tatty from occasionally catching during cornering otherwise but no other damage caused. Have mine bonded to end of front sil/skirt rather than using the supplied push pins so maybe they are a bit more robust due to that.

Hi thanks for the reply do they require drilling, ideally im after a pair that doesn't just i dont know if any supply that option

The ST set had fixings for drilling into the ends of the skirts for the front mudflaps but I’ve never fitted mine that way.

Front one uses one of the wheelarch liner fixings then one bonded the flap to the end of the skirt plus made a small bracket mounted in a hole in the body sill that lets you have a mechanical fixing below the sill. Did used to put pvc tape over the end of the sill first before bonding but the tape used to pull away over time partly due to the flap catching the floor. Last pair I bonded straight onto the skirt and trimmed the flap bit more than before. Gone through a few sets over time but latest set are doing the best so far.

Rear flaps just pick up off fixing holes in the rear wheelarch liner, maybe one screws into the inside of the rear bumper through the arch liner. Can’t recall for sure as it’s a while back now I fitted the last set.
