Dash cam takes 5-10 mins to turn off

Featured Replies

I’ve just had a nextbase 422gw dash cam fitted it’s hardwired but when I turn of the ignition it takes about 5-10 mins to power of when I asked the fitter he said that’s normal is normal for 2011 mk3 focus does anyone know if this is true ?

Yes if it's been wired to a switched live.  You can test this theory by plugging something else into the lighter socket and watching to see that go off at the same time as the dashcam.

There is also the possibility that the dashcam has a small battery or memory capacitor which will keep it powered for around 5 minutes. They do this to avoid the camera turning on and off repeatedly if you switch the car off and then restart it shortly afterwards.
