2010 Bonnet Lock Query

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I recently picked up a 2010 Focus Estate. Purchase was slightly delayed as I was told they had to wait for a part from ebay to replace the bonnet lock. And now every time I start the car there is a "bonnet open" warning light on the display. I have checked and its definitely not open, I'm assuming it is something to do with the lock mechanism unless anybody could tell me otherwise?

Is the light something I can get rid of or is it to do with the replacement of that part? Some google research tells me the bonnet lock was a common flaw on Focus' of this era.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

The wrong bonnet latch has been fitted.

There are ones with a switch fitted and one's without.

Looking for a little more information on this if anybody can help, how would I know which type was fitted and which one I would need to make the light go away?

Thanks

If you just want the light to go away then find the wiring plug under the bonnet, it'll be somewhere near the latch and bridge the wiring pins.

If it's come from a garage then I'd be telling them to sort it out properly as they said they were fixing it
