Galaxy 21 plate DPF recall problems

Featured Replies

Galaxy 2.0L eco blue diesel (150bhp) 2021 26K miles

I’m one of the many with the 24E06 fault code letters regarding DPF. It passed the MOT in August with no issues but since Sept on 3 occasions engine management light appeared and this seems to be to do with this fault. It does go away after a few days, but obviously is stored in the Ford Pass memory which any Ford dealer can access. I haven’t yet had the recall and checking chassis no, there are no active recalls. However on the DVSA database it is an active recall.

In the meantime, we want to sell the car but with intermittent fault codes keeping on popping up, have no idea how to go about this. I haven’t had the invitation letter from Ford yet so I’m in a catch 22 as the fault code is due to this but they aren’t rushing to sort the issue! Any suggestions? I haven’t had the actual recall letter, just the action required letter from April. Ford dealer initially said can’t see as recall if not failed MOT, but really strong diesel fumes and lots of EML all linked to excess airflow. They have agreed to book it in but have a horrible feeling they will try and wriggle out. The exhaust pipes are black so it has to be the DPF.

If there's no recall there's not much you can do, other than.

Put some DPF clean additive in the fuel, change the oil, take it for a really good blast to regen the DPF fully, get set up on FORScan and clear the codes

DVSA have it as a safety recall, Ford don’t although I have the letter saying that it will be recalled! I suspect because Ford know quite how many they have to do.

We had that letter in the post 2019 galaxy

id suggest as above changing the engine oil and giving the car a really hard long run at high revs, get FORScan lite on mobile it’s very cheap, not sure about other people’s 2l ecoblue but mine doesn’t like being plodded about for too long so every now and then I take it for a good blast

i recommend the forte dpf cleaner

with FORScan you can see the engine oil temp I have had mine up to 118 degrees going up hill in 3rd at about 4.5k rpm
