Clutch Help Needed Please

Hi,

I have recently purchased a 54 plate Fusion with only 25k miles on the clock, i was on the M25 the other night when the clutch went. I pressed the clutch down when i was in slow moving traffic and the peddle went straight to floor, then i could not get the car into gear and had to get towed home. What is the likely problem going to be, could it just be the clutch cable?
