Many Thanks. Like everyone else, I've received sound advice and will follow up on it all. My son has made his choice. He wants the BMW 1  series. He has his favourite colour too ; I don't know what the colour is called but it's like a dusty grey?

Hi. 🤔🤔As a Ford owner, I’d add to the discussion that when choosing a car, it’s important to look not only at the type of timing system (wet belt or chain), but at the overall engine condition and service history. A wet belt does require disciplined oil changes, but it’s not a critical drawback on its own. A lot depends on the quality of consumables and parts. I service my car myself and order parts via Autodoc — generally convenient, but like anywhere else, you need to carefully check compatibility and return conditions.

What you say does make sense and I am appreciative for your advice. Yes , I am in agreement. I have done that in the past and will continue to do so. I am mindful that it's going to be more expensive to go for a BMW and to expect higher prices for parts , servicing, etc☹️
