Dear All

After 4 years of blue oval ownership I have finally got fed up with the attitude (and expense) of Mr Ford. I was going to exchange to a Titanium X but the "we cant do that sir" mentality again raised its ugly head. (What is wrong with Ford's customer care)

I am now the proud owner of a land of the rising (burnaston)sun Toyota Avensis 09 plate. Will get this on Saturday and managed to get vehicle protection pack, roof bars and front and rear sensors all thrown in. Very proud of my haggling skills. (Toyota customer care 10/10)

I wish all Ford Forum members good luck with the site and am sure that it will go from strengh to strength and become the number 1 Ford owners site.

I will still dip my toe in the big pond now and again but will be available to answer any pm's (ie audio codes or try to give technical advice if possible) should anybody wish to contact me directly. Hopefully having answered 2300 posts I have managed to help and advise members with their problems.

Happy motoring and in the words of Brian May remember Fords are Driven by You (but not always repaired successfully and cheaply by dealerships)

Regards

Mintalkin

A Toyota... Can't say I'd leave Ford for a brand that is always in the news for recalls due to sticking accelerators and low-functioning brakes... But I guess that is just me.

I wish you luck with your new car. No offence, but you'll need it!

at least toyota has got the balls to stick their hands up and say we have a problem and are going to fix it, not like other manufactures who bury there heads in the sand ie ford with the injectors, tensioner pullys, alloy wheels. renault with bonnet catches, bmw with wheel and power steering problems, vw with fuel pump problems i could go on and on. i had eight years of trouble free motoring with toyota before trying ford (big mistake) and customer satisfaction is no 1 on there list.

Well pre-2000 Toyotas I don't have a problem with. But the newer ones are just rubbish in my opinion. We've owned numerous Fords and never had any problems. Though, all the other cars (not Fords) we've owned have been trouble ridden. 2x Peugeot 405 (1.9TD and 1.6 Petrol) - broke down every other day, Austin Allegro - just plain awful and ended up on its roof, Fiat Punto - electricals went up in flames... But all the Fords have been bullet proof... I say no more!

Well why couldn't Toyota try making a car and testing it extensively before selling it so they didn't have to recall it!?

And it isn't like they've learned from their mistakes, they are still recalling now!

when you have had over 30 years of car ownership and maintenance and subsequent costs , your opinion may alter.if fords are so good how come toyota have two models in the top 19 cars (prius and avensis) and the first ford is at 36 in the JD Power customer satisfaction poll.

now now children... lol I think all brands have their faults i've never had any problems with Ford, but i know who have, same with any other cars... depends how you treat them... a bit like women...

Hope you enjoy the toyota, and im sure you can stay on the forums to chat now and then? More the merrier i'd have thought.

Oh yeah 'cos the Prius is a great car... *throws up*

OK fine I'll accept all cars have faults, but I just have a hatred for Toyota that will never go away.

If it weren't for it being a Toyota, the Avensis is a nice-ish looking car (that is the best compliment you will get out of me so be happy about it  )

Same here, never had one single problem with my Fiesta (that wasn't something like brake pads wearing out, which is going to happen to any car!), but again, I have heard a few people saying they have. Personally I treat the Fiesta very well. Oil change every 5,000 miles (though due to a seized on sump plug I can't get the oil changed as of yet :( When I used a breaker bar to get it off it just started to strip the nut! Suggestions welcome!!), fresh coolant every 1 year, fuel filter every 40,000 miles etc... So that is probably why the Fiesta is still happily driving along.
