Sync 3 update via usb

Is there any way to see if a sync3 update is loading via usb. I downloaded latest update via usb, and plugged it into cars usb, but only usb indexed came up on screen, is there any way to see if the update is actually being uploaded to sync

    You do normally get a message at the top row of the screen when the update is in progress, "Updating System Software". 

    The indexing message doesn't indicate that an update is in progress, but does indicate that Sync is reading the memory stick. It should disappear after less than a minute.

    To get the update to work you need to unplug everything from all USB ports in the car, close the drivers door, start the engine engine and wait for the Sync screen to start up. Then plug in the USB stick containing the update. If you plug in the USB stick before Sync has started up it often won't perform the update.

    Yes, and make sure automatic updates is turned on in your settings
