Ford Focus MK1 1.6 L Zetec SE 5w30 oil recommendations

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a mk1 Ford Focus Estate with a 1.6 L Zetec SE engine with 220km,i am looking for a bit of guidance on what might be a good engine choice, right now, after my second year of ownership, i have used a 5w30 fully synthetic oil from Motul, the 8100 ECO-NERGY, I think it's much too thin since i hear a clicking sound only when the engine is warmed up, and i believe it's the oil, the 2 oils i was really interested in are the Mobil 1 ESP formula, the Mobil 1 3000 x FE, or the Castol Magnatec A5, and i honestly don't know which would be better for an aging engine like mine, other than that, no real mechanical failures of the engine in the past decade, no real overheating problems, and the engine is in general responsive

I will say l have no clue on the w/w levels of the other oils you've mentioned. But as a general rule I've always used 10/30 in the older ford engines I've had because it's helped reduce the friction and stop that kind of noise..

Search for this on Fleabay, from the official ford store.

" Genuine Ford Castrol Magnatec A5 5W-30 Engine Oil Fully Synthetic 5L L15F60F "

Currently on offer for £27.96 for 5 litre, delivery free.

Can't go wrong, genuine stuff direct from Ford, get the oil filter as well from the same place.
