Focus mk 4 2022 heating issue

Featured Replies

Looking some sage advice. I got my focus from ford in September and I've only recently had to use the heat. Given the dials being like the starship enterprise I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong but there is barely any heat at all when I try various settings

I've tried keeping passenger on/passenger off/ac on/a off but there is barely any heat even when I have everything cranked. I did get a warranty so could drop it to ford to see but wanted to check first if it's something I can sort myself or a I doing something daft with the controls?

The passenger's side is set to the coldest setting

The driver's side is set to the warmest setting, that's not helping

The fan speed is in manual mode, but is not even on. There's no lights above the fan to show the speed it's set at.

Press the dual button off, so that the light is off and the passenger side will sync to the driver's side

Press the auto button to level three and let the system get on with it.

Adjust the heat setting on the right hand dial only, the left will follow

If you're not getting any heat through then, then there is a problem that will need investigating

I always leave A/C on

I should have sent more photos and I'd tried various other things you'd mentioned.

Tried it again with all of your recommendations. Think I'll have to give ford a call tomorrow and see just cba with the hassle of leaving if with them...

If you are expecting 'Hot' air blasting out of the vents, that's not how the heating on the Mk4 works.

You will get a general warmth mostly from the floor and screen vents. The other vents will be providing slightly warm air and the whole of the cabin will reach the set temperature once the engine has warmed up. Below is a photo of how my Mk4 heating controls are set and it works fine.

Cheers. Not expecting lava flowing out, ha.

I've a family member with a 2023 puma with the same setup as you and I regularly drive it so I have that as comparison and there's definitely something wrong with mine.

I barely notice a temperature difference when I get out of the car in UK winter weather

The Puma heating is less sophisticated than the Focus but it does work in a similar way. Heat from the floor vents, heat from the screen vents. Very very rarely a little bit of heat from the fascia vents, in fact it often takes us by surprise when it (randomly) decides to put a bit of heat out of the fascia vents for a few seconds. So yours does sound like it has a problem.

My Focus does heat up eventually, but I must say that I often get cold feet - never had that before.  If I put my hand to the floor vent I can feel some heat, but not a lot.
