Boot issue - 2010 Mk2.5 1.6 Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I know there’s a few posts about issues with the boot not opening on the focus, but can’t see any with my specific issue.

So posting this for a bit of help.

Last night, whilst I was out delivering parcels, the boot decided it no longer wanted to open. Either with handle or the key fob. Wasn’t making any clicks, completely dead.

Today, with the help of some previous posts on here and a few YouTube videos I was able to get it open.

I unplugged a few wires and plugged them in again, disconnected the handle to have a look for part number, reconnected, then all of a sudden it starts working! The lock, along with the trim come flying off. “Happy days!” I thought. I tested about 7/8 times, working again. Great. So I put everything back together, put tools away, tries it again… DEAD.

Took handle bit off again to check for damage and test continuity, all seems fine. By that time was going dark. So I’ve left it for now.

Does anyone know what it could be? Is the mechanism goosed? Or could it be a wiring fault?

Any help appreciated.
