SYNC- NO SYNC- SYNC is that normal

Featured Replies

Hi we have a Focus 2004 1.8TDCI tank no start. With forescan we read "sync- no sync - sync when starting. This must be weather cranck - and camshaft sensors are matching up. I wonder if thats normal, or should it be on Sync all the time See picture, it's the one above.

That's not normal.  Have you checked the camshaft is turning?  Timing belt may have failed if not.

Thanks, how sure are you have you seen it stable on "synced" before?  It brarbels when putting in some break cleaner, so the camshaft must be turning, however distribution may have skipped a teeth (?)

Oh we have now checked in Forescan "camshaft sensor state" and it flips also from "waiting" to "error", in the exact wave form as the above "sync" waveform. It counts the rpm though and if we take the wiring off it stops counting RPM and drops a faultcode, before not.
