Severe condensation on windscreen

Featured Replies

Hi all

ill attach pictures but it’s bad, feels like it needs a squeegee. Had the boot looked at (garage removed two plastic plugs and a lot of water drained out) and the problem has not gone away. Could it be the windscreen that’s the issue? I’ll attach a picture.

be grateful for any insight as to what the problem is. The car is a Ford Focus mk3

The issue is still the boot.  Rear vents need to removed, stuffing needs to be dried out or binned, then vents sealed back in to stop water getting into the boot.  Removing the bungs is not a fix.

It might be worth checking for a wet pollen filter, or that the vent intake is full of wet leaves...

Do you have detached or damages door seals (like lots of Focus do) ?

I've had two Focuses with dangly door seals and never seen condensation like the OP has.

As Tom has already said, when the boot leaks the water soaks into the insulation material inside the car bodywork and that water evaporates into the car.

Bumper off, vents out, insulation out and thoroughly dried. Insulation back in (or bin it). Vents back in and sealed around with silicone ore similar. Bumper back on. Problem cured. There is a sticky post on here somewhere with full instructions.

Edit to add:

This is the post I was thinking of https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/70704-possible-mk3-boot-leak/?&_rid=80124#findComment-491015 unfortunately the pictures are no longer visible as our government seem to think youngsters might be damaged by looking at photos of cars with various bits removed. ☹️

I do have that, only when parked in the sun in a very cold day.

Thank you all! Looks like a trip to the mechanic I know, I lack the tools to do this or space sadly but if it get rid of the problem then it’s worth it.

Just to put a resolution here, the drivers side carpet was sodden, no where else. Further investigation showed there was a coolant leak around the heating matrix. All done but that seems to have been the cause.
