2012 Fietsa won't start after daul clutch replacement

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone

Looking for some help with my son's Fietsa, we brought with a 103k on the dial, an updated TCM and a clutch needing to be replaced (car would move under it's own power BTW). Well this wasn't my first clutch job, but to my surprise in all my years of turning a wrench I have never encountered an automatic transmission setup like this. Now the clutch is in, car's on the ground and I'm getting "car is not in park warning" and car won't start not even in neutral. Connected Forscan, received a few codes on being out of range so I swap out the neutral safety switch (lets say cheap one from amazon) which might still be the culprit. New to the Ford seen and would appreciate any help.

@DaveT70 How can I fix the alignment issue?

The selector mechanism (or, hopefully not fork) is out of alignment.

The transmission is not where the TCM thinks it is.

Adjust exterior selector mechanism, if that doesn't work box has got to come apart again.

Perform a clutch drum relearn with FORScan too.

You'll have to research how to do it though.

Probably loads of rebuild videos on Powersh*t transmissions on Youtube

Clutch learn process is on FORScan forums (DPS6 dry clutch)

If you are referring to the shift linkage on top of the tranny connected the position lever? Yes I've unbolted the bracket and made sure it pushed fully back and still nothing. Outside of pulling the tranny with the TCM attached placing it on a bench, swapping the clutch out what would cause the alignment issue? And here I thought Audi overengineer things, what was ford thinking. Thanks for the feedback. I will check out forscan forum.

Did you reset the clutch actuators?

Yes, I did it to both.

Nothing else springs to mind at the moment . Been probably 10 years since I did the last one.

I did have one that got stuck in 2 gears at the same time that caused me to remove the transmission and clutch again.

Terrible transmissions with oil leaks that contaminated the clutch plates. Had one where the seal wouldn't come out and the transmission was replaced under warranty. I was the only one who volunteered to fix those clutches at the garage.
