Vacuum Pump Oil hose disconnected help

Featured Replies

Went for a quick drive and noticed a puff of smoke, pulled in anyway and one of the hoses (red arrow) connected to the vacuum pump had disconnected and spilled oil over the heat shield. It felt really loose, almost no resistance to removing the hose when I put it back on but no obvious split. It was also loose on the other side, so I cable tied both sides to get me home. Looking back at photos there was never a clip on this hose so not sure why they're feeling so loose.

Has anyone had any experience with this before, or what could have caused the hose to pop off like that? Oil change is probably due though but just wanted to check if there was an underlying issue before changing the oil and replacing a bit of hose.

oil level seems normal

engine was replaced in August 2022 and vacuum pump was replaced in October 2022 with no trouble from either since.

That is not an oil hose.  There should not be any oil in there.

It is just a vacuum hose and if any oil comes out of this hose there is clearly something wrong.

Should have copped that hint in the name "vacuum pump". I'll pull the vacuum pump off and have a look at the seals to see if that's teh culprit and needs replacing. Thanks both.
