Seatbelt warning light

Featured Replies

My Seatbelt warning light has stopped working and my 02 Focus  has failed the MOT test,  can I disable it .

The belt itself is in working order.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

What is the exact wording of the fail?

Only an SRS (airbag) light should fail.  Not just a seatbelt reminder light.

"Supplementary restraint system warning lamp indicates a fault (7.1.6 (A)"

Thanks.

Ok.  Either the tester has made a mistake here.  Or it's an airbag light that's showing.  Can you confirm which light is on?

I was mistaken,  the light is called "Airbag/seatbelt pretensioner"

If this is a clue, I had a flood,  water was about 2 inches above floor level.  I suspected that a sensor had got damaged as the seatbelt was wet.

Next question, expensive cure?

Thanks.

Scrap yards would be my starting point, probably about £25

Ok thanks.  As far as I'm aware, there aren't any electrics on the belt itself.  I suspect the buckle pre-tensioner is causing the warning light here.  There are plenty available on ebay for £30 or less.  Or you can try a local scrap yard as suggested above.  Both front seats have a pre-tensioner, so it could be either, but if only the drivers side belt was wet then we can make an educated guess that it'll be the pretensioner on that side as well.
