Acceleration problem

Featured Replies

Hi i have a 2010 face-lift 2.0 tdci zetec no dpf the problem is intermittent while driving press the gas pedal  and im waiting for engine to respond after a couple of seconds back to normal full power no warning lights no big clouds of smoke happens cold or hot could it be clogged filters? Any help much appreciated

When were the filters last changed?
If in doubt I'd say change them, especially fuel filter as it needs to be ruled out from causing any possible fuelling issue.

I believe 3 years is the recommendation (will obviously depend on mileage) but  based on early failure, I change every 2 years.

I've changed fuel filter it seems to be better but still happening next will be oil filter when I buy oil

I can't see engine oil and filter having any effect if that's what your next hope is (of course it should be changed regularly - yearly or mileage based)?
My next suggestion, providing a good service has been carried out (air filter although never found that to be effective unless very blocked) is to monitor live data parameters: mass air flow, boost pressures, fuel rail pressures, turbo wastegate or vane position etc (all demanded and actual where available) looking for obvious inconsistencies, stupidity?
Then come back with an update?

Turns out I have cracks in turbo inlet pipe coming from air box but I can't manage to get it off as loads in the way do have to take most things off or is there an easier way

And mileage i change them by

If that is the solid plastic pipe that runs across the back of the engine to the turbo, it does look like an absolute nightmare to change and I wouldn't have any idea how to make it easier.
Is there no way to perhaps seal up the crack if you can access that (assume it is suction rather than pressure so any sealant would be drawn into the pipework so that would have to be taken into account)?
I'd be thinking of epoxy with reinforcing tape or similar?

That's what im going to do but with fiberglass but can't really acces it
