Anti theft protection

Hi all, I have change my battery on my car as it was dead and start fine once changed, but on my radio it's asking for a device pin where do I get this from am I OK to drive it

Hi Leroy,

You need to specify exactly what model of car and audio unit* you have (*a pic would be helpful) then someone should be able to assist you in finding the code.

Yes if you can manage without the tunes.

Your local Vertu? Cost me £20 to take my car to them and they gave me the code

Check your owners handbook, the code should be in there, usually a sticker on one of the fist pages of the audio book.

Failing that, you will need to remove the radio and get the serial number off the label. with which you can get a code from various sites.

Maybe it wasnt safe to drive without the radio after all ... 😬

I fear the OP was extracting the Michael from us! Who would ask such a banal question - is it safe to drive without the radio!! If anything, likely safer to drive without the distraction 🤣

I think they probably were genuinely concerned about 'anti-theft' immobilising the car/engine in some way rather than just the radio.

Tom, as usual you are being very generous of heart LOL (I'm a mean git)  He stated the car started fine, obvious an immobiliser had not been effected...

Possibly concerned for the Tom Jones greatest hits cd stuck in the stereo more than the door pocket full of werthers originals. ?  i mean the assumptions can be endless when posts are left alone to us all... 😂

It's only obvious to those of us with some technical experience.  Just because the engine started once doesn't necessarily mean it would start again, or that it wouldn't stop after a certain number of minutes/miles.

Keyless cars will still drive if you start them and then drop the key outside...but they won't start again once you're stuck away from home without the key.  Adblue faults cause the engine not to start after a set number of miles.  It's really not that much of a jump to have heard things like that and then wonder if the same would happen if you ignore an anti-theft message on the radio.

I'm sure there are plenty of things I don't know about other subjects.  Would rather be educated about them than laughed at and told it's 'common sense'.  As humans we generally forget how much we've learnt about a subject, that other people haven't learnt yet.
