Does Forscan work on Windows 7 and Focus Mk2?

Featured Replies

As per title really…

just rigged up forscan with my win7 laptop to focus mk2 (2005), and it wouldn’t connect.

i have the correct wire, it was tested with a more modern laptop, which worked.

cheapo obd scanner worked in the focus, so I know the port works.

Any ideas?

you say wire, so USB port? Not bluetooth?

This says Win 7 is supported:

What "wire" are you using, have you installed any drivers (if necessary)?

Otherwise it's a problem with your laptop, maybe, (USB port issue?)

I only use Windows 7

FORScan works fine when connected using the vLinker FS cable.

FORScan does work on the 2005 Focus Mk2 but may not support all functionality.

Thanks for the replies.

using vlinker cable.

laptop/usb ports work, as I can run opcom on it for my Vauxhall.

Opcom didn’t work today after trying it. Wonder if there is some kind of software clash

Sounds like a USB port issue

Can you still download older versions of Forscan?  If the current one doesn't work on this PC, I'd try and older one.

Does the laptop find the cable?  I'm sure that should be possible even before opening Forscan.

Go into device manager and check your com port irq configuration. if not already set to automatic, try that, otherwise you need to match it in the config of forscan to whatever irq number its set to.
