Changing battery in 2020 Focus St Line X 1.0 ecoboost

Featured Replies

Wonder if anyone can provide any assistance.

Changing battery for first time and it appears you need to remove the air filter. As the battery has to slide forward out of the bracket.

Only issue is that removing the ducting closest to front of the engine bay is a nightmare.. for me anyway.

Looks like two clips which should be pushed with screwdriver and then pop off.. which it doesn't. This would allow me to just remove the base of the air filter box I assume and access the battery.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Edit - Apologies.  Ignore this post, I misread it as charging, not changing.

Hi Steve,

Yes, the battery needs to slide forward to be able to remove it. And yes, the air filter box needs to be moved away. I chose to remove all the ducting. Those clips will pop up if you take your time with them. If i remember right, the clips have a spot where it is easier for the screwdriver to go in, and that is where i started fidling with them.

Maybe if you only lift the airfilter box to get it loose, you can push it towards the front and create enough space for the battery to slide. But I am not sure. I wanted to have enough space to see things clearly.

I changed my Battery last year, but it wasn't straight forward, yes I did remove the clips for the air ducting and airbox, I did try and do a reset for the BMS as per video, nothing showed that it was done, but luckily all seems okay, not the ideal weather for changing batteries.

All my previous cars I disconnected the terminals, put in the new charged battery and tightened the terminals and that was it, bring back the time when things were simple. I'm old by the way.
