2025 Puma Software improvements

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I got a new Puma in July of 2025 and have a number of complaints about the software (Lane Keeping, pre-collision, Speed Alert). I can only submit generic feedback through the car software. Is there a dedicated user feedback forum to raise issues?

Hi Jennie, welcome.

If you mean direct feedback to Ford, the Customer Relationship Centre:  [email protected] - but people rarely get any joy there!

Or the Puma forum on here to share experiences with other members.

It looks, though, as if your issues may be with the compulsory "safety" measures which recently came into force for all new cars? Complaints about these are common across all makes/models.

PS we've had confusion on this before as specs can differ - are you in Louth, Lincs or Co Louth, ROI?😀

Hi Eric,

Thanks for coming back to me. Co. Louth ROI 👋. Having recently changed from a 2022 to a 2025 Puma the change in the software is really irritating. Its bings, pings, false alerts, inaccurate lane sensing (country roads) and the resulting steering correction are rage inducing and possibly accident causing. It also is incapable of detecting correct speed limits so the Speed Alert is constantly going off.

Sounds like it's working exactly as specified by the EU. 🙁

If it were detecting 80km zones as such and not mistakenly thinking it is 30/50/60km you would be correct. Also the inaccurate visual measurement for lane assist and pre-collision alerts are just poor programming, with firmware or software or both.

Unfortunately it sounds like par for the course for these now mandated functions. Friends of mine have a Mk 8 Golf and make similar comments, the Toyota Corolla forum is also full of them, just to cite a couple of examples.

Suggest you start a thread in the Puma section, though, and compare notes with other owners of recent Pumas to ascertain if yours is worse than normal.

Has anybody tried turning all this rubbish off using FORScan?

Got to be doable?????

Has Forscan been updated for the very latest models?

I'm also unsure whether it essentially just copies the Ford software or whether there's more to it than that.  If it just copies then I doubt Ford software does allow for EU mandates to be switched off nowadays.

I guess it would also put the manufacturer of the car/supplier of the software in a difficult legal position?

Some manufacturers do make it much easier than others to disable stuff, though, e.g. Renaults"My safety perso" feature which lets you group your preferences and enable/disable via one button.

Perhaps we as customers should take that kind of thing into account when choosing our next car and vote with our wallets.

I would think that the South African, Australian, USA models don't come with all this bo11ocks.

Perhaps studying the AB files of one of those may give a clue to what needs to be changed for the Eurotrash models.

I believe the Puma was discontinued in Oz and SA before the latest round of mandatory ADAS and I'm sure I saw somewhere that it was going to be avallable in USA but now isn't?

I think even South Africa seems to be embracing this stuff in the hope of reducing their pretty bad accident statistics, so not much hope there anyway unfortunately.
