Time to change tpms?

Featured Replies

My SMAX is coming up to 9 years old, and every now and again I get tpms malfunction and the 2 on driver side go offline until I reset them.

Guessing battery running low. Assuming it's best to get all 4 replaced at the same time.

Prices seem to vary quite a bit can anyone provide the best decent set of 4 please.

So while you're at it ...........

Remember to replace all the TPMS sensors at the same time. A set of 4 new sensors costs under £20 and getting them changed now will save you £20 fitting per wheel if you have to get them changed later.

The tpms sensors your buy will need to be hard coded into your car.

from experience its 50/50. sometimes the protocols on these are not done properly so they wont work even with the proper machines to code them into the car. plus ive had few customer who bought cheap ebay ones that worked but battery died within few months.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? Put car into relearn mode took the tpms tool to front left valve, pressed button red led comes on and after moving it about nothing happens.

Have you tried the other sensors to see if they do anything.

Tried front and rear left but nothing eventually times out and get to honks of horn with this message on dash. Assuming it has to be done in order?

yes has to be done in order. the reason I asked if you tried the others was trying to see of the front left was faulty or battery dead. it could also be the device.

put it i to relearn mode again and take air out manually to see if it wakes up the sensor.

Their machine not recognising the sensors either, he's connected something to obd port but still no joy. So it could be the sensors at fault!

i would stay away from the very cheap ones on ebay. the ones i use come blank and i programme them for the make/model/year to make sure they work

I have just noticed your username 😂

Any suggestion on what to get that will just work and can be easily programmed? Expensive mistake as I paid £15 per valve for fitting, hoping he will replace for less but just need something that can be programmed with the grey tpms tool.

hamaton/tyresure are good sensors but your looking at 30-40 a sensor.

have you tired the dealers sometimes there sensors are cheaper then the after market ones.

Do you have a link to the wrong sensors so we can compare?

I would expect your originals to be 433Hz and stamped with a triangle. They are Ford part number 2318453 if so.

It was the one shared earlier in thread https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/366103274549?mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&siteid=3&customid=link&campid=5338910163&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

I sent seller pic of orignal sensor and he said these are not compatible so will need to get new ones and get them installed and hopefully just code myself.

could be wrong but this link was given earlier in the thread. Just doubled checked the sensors in the link and S Max isn't listed as a compatible car anyway. again not sure of its the ones he bought.

The ones in that link have a square printed on them. I'm hoping yours have a triangle? (Other side from that picture).

I think its clear I have wrong sensor, just need to get correct ones and take the hit on getting them replaced again, hopefully I can then activate/code myself 😁
