Wet Belt Help & Advice Please

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice please, I have a Ford Focus Ecoboost, 64 plate with 61k mileage. So I’m of course overdue a new wet belt. I’ve been debating for ages what to do. I also need new pads and discs soon and a couple of new tyres following my MOT as these were advisories. I’m in the do I get a new car or get all these repairs done including wet belt on my Focus dilemma.

I just wanted to know really, has anyone had their wet belt done on an ecoboost and it’s been fine after? I’m hearing stories of engine failure still after wet belt replacement which then makes me think so I get rid of my car while it’s still worth something. Or as I’ve got low mileage and car already had a new clutch just over a year or so ago, do I put the money into my car and keep it.

I am also struggling to find a relatively local garage that does wet belts on ecoboosts, and provides any sort of guarantee on the work. I’m based in the West Midlands, near Stourbridge. So any garage recommendations would also be appreciated please.

Thank you!

cost wise for the belt, brakes and tyres youre looking around 2k all in.

If any engine has failed after a wet belt being done, its either been done wrong, or the damage was done by the old belt/blocked strainer before the new belt was fitted.

All i can say is find a reputable garage for the job. even if it costs slightly more.

there really is no excuse for cutting corners when doing the belts.

Friend of mine had theirs done about 18 months ago by the reputable garage they've used for over 30 years. It's been absolutely fine since.
