Ford Focus 1 L Ecoboost 2016 plate. Dashboard lights dim when I switch on the main lights. Is this a built‑in dimming feature linked to the headlight circuit, or by a voltage/grounding issue in the lighting or instrument‑panel circuits or something else? This only happened last week and is intermittent. Battery and alternator tested ok?

    Dashboard lights do dim when the headlights are on.  That is correct operation.

    check the dial beside your headlight switch for the dash illumination. it could be set too low, or have a dirty contact, usually turning it back and forth a few times resolves that.
