My number plate is de-laminating, can I just unclip the surround to fit the new number plate, I do have trim tools, thanks.

    Yes. 

    They should be clipped along the bottom, and then pivot along the top.  (Unless you can see a split in the front of the frame anywhere).

    I thought it should, as it clipped together, I will try to be gentle, the replacement number plate should arrive tomorrow, I fitted the surround with the fixing screws behind the number plate, which looks better as I'm not keen on seeing the screws, downside easier to steal the number plate, even with screws it does take much remove them, thanks for help Tom.
