brake problem

Featured Replies

i have a 2012 ford focus se and the problem i have is something that i dont think anyone can diagnose. when I come down my road and get to a spot that goes from asphalt to cement and am pushing on the brake pedal it goes almost to the floor like there is no brakes. i can pump them and get brakes and then i have no problems till the next day when i hit the same spot on the road.

Welcome!
I can't diagnose this without the use of Magic (and perhaps not then)
However, having to pump to get braking is a very serious safety issue so I'd be looking at leaks, fluid level, bleeding, checking that brakes at each wheel work correctly, nothing seized ,etc - a total brake function and efficiency check to  find any cause.
You don't give your location but MOT test in England covers an individual wheel brake test covering efficiency, axle difference, drag etc so that should be carried out as a matter of urgency, based on what you say.
For braking to vary ON/OFF by surface is unacceptable, efficiency can obviously vary due to asphalt/concrete having different coefficients of friction but your description is strange to the point of disbelief.
Unless there are other Magicians around?

The ABS is probably kicking in when you hit the slippery concrete.  If the pedal really is going to the floor in this situation, there's likely to be air in the ABS module.  Needs a proper service bleed to clear it out.

This sounds like a Highways authority problem.

Tell them you want the road fully resurfaced with asphalt 🤣

Do not drive anywhere, not even to a garage. Have it towed and brakes fully inspected as people have said above 🙂

Hope you stay safe
