Instrumental panel cap

Featured Replies

Hi, picked up my ford puma today! Happy with purchase! I spotted this cap was missing (see images) is this something you can purchase?

Hi,

You can buy the complete sun sensor cheaply on eBay. I'm not sure if the cap is available on its own, or whether it's broken off of yours.

Sorry it’s not a sun visor, its on the dashboard towards the front maybe something to do with security ?

Not sun visor, sun sensor - used as part of the climate control system to take into account when getting direct sunlight and related infra red heat into the car.

You’ll not be noticing that for a few months yet!

Thanks for your help! On another note how the hell do I work keyless entry? Checked settings but nothing jumping out! I do not see “intelligent access?” Am I missing something?

What trim level is your Puma? Most of them don't have keyless entry. Only keyless start.

The sensor looks looks identical to mine and some of the EBay offers are listed "Puma/Fiesta Mk 8" .

Keyless settings instructions will be in settings (if equipped) something like below, but you can download a handbook here if you don't have one:

Has your sensor got a cover on it?

I know it’s a mild hybrid if that helps?

Certainly has, like this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/9056636153?

I'm wondering if you purchased from a dealer in which case I'd expect them to sort it for you.

Not really. Most 1.0 petrol Pumas are MHEV.

Tom meant trim level e.g. Titanium, ST-Line, ST-Line X, ST, etc. Only the higher spec cars would have keyless entry as standard, though it has been available as an option, usually as part of a "comfort pack".

Yeah they are sorting for me at no extra cost thankfully. Overall happy with the purchase though! How do I check the spec would this be within the docs I received from the dealer?

It'll be on the green slip from the V5 if you were given that.

May also be written on the sticker inside the driver's door.

Ford puma ST-Line Design MHEV

Ford puma ST-Line Design MHEV

Thanks. Unfortunately the 'Design' trim was a short lived covid trim built when microchips were in short supply and I don't know the full spec list for those. I suspect they don't have keyless entry though.

Best option now is to look at the door handles. The keyless entry versions have 3 raised lines on them at the keyhole end.

I have tried this by having the key in my pocket and grabbing the handle to open but no joy. I did check the settings on the screen in the vehicle but something that other pumas have was “intelligent access” which mine doesn’t show this option to turn on/off makes me think without this feature I do not have keyless entry

Very likely not. If you download the handbook, the keyless section shows you the position of the lines that Tom mentions. If you don't have these and any other features mentioned, you don't have it.

Just spotted something on Design. Very pared back spec as you say. Didn't have keyless entry and looks like only manual a/c also. Looks as if at around that time you needed at least ST-Line Vignale spec to get keyless.
