Metal parts in fuel diesel filter, replace pipes?

Featured Replies

Hi all, had stuck injectors on my 1.8TDCI , FFDA, 74kw 2004 Focus. We found metal parts in the filter. pump and filter will be renewed, tank flushed. I read that the high pressure pipes and the housing should be renewed cause little parts may stay inn. Is that true? If yes where to buy them couldn't find them so far?

The pipes are available individually from Ford. But a set of 4 costs more than your cars worth. Here are 2 of them.

The reason for replacing these is not so much about particles inside. It is more that the nuts are only designed to be used once on the high pressure system. Most people will not replace these on a car if this age and value. But you must make sure they are very clean inside. And if you feel any of the nuts starting to slip when tightening, then that pipe and nut should be replaced. They can't just be left a bit loose.

If the injectors were destroyed by those particles , are the metal parts in the filter like "glitter" or other detritus perhaps from the HP pump break up? - has this been inspected/changed (where else would metallic flakes come from unless I'm missing the point?)

Yes, Sheaters, the only thing where the metal debris can come from is the pump. The question was if the metal pipes need to be replaced if they are contaminated by it. Thanks for the video. Thnx TomsFocus
