DCT tensioner on oil belt?

Featured Replies

Hi.

This is my first post here 😀

I'm supposed to be picking up a brand new 1.0 155ps DCT on Friday obviously with the timing chain.

Everything is in place to now get it but at the last 11th hour I've discovered the auto may have a tensioner fitted to the oil belt and some people are having them snap at 30-40k.

I know sometimes searching forums can bring up issues that aren't widespread and/or might never happen to you. My Astra K is one of those which had a bad reputation and it's done 100k perfect miles.

Should I be concerned about this belt snapping because the auto has the tensioner fitted where the manual doesn't?

According to the latest parts catalog the Focus MK4.5 MHEV with 7-Speed DCT transmission does no longer have a balance shaft and belt tensioner.

Like the manual transmission versions, the wetbelt only drives the oil pump. Despite wetbelt failure cannot be entirely prevented this drastically reduces the chance of it happening. It is strongly recommended to perform an oil change at least once a Year.
