Limpmode P1299 after 5km

Featured Replies

My Focus goes in Limpmode at about 5km when starting with cold engine, but when overheating fauilt p1299 starts, meter says 120 celsius but engine is not hot at all, less then 60 celsius.
With Forscan i see code p1299 cilinder head temperature, i can reset it, meter jumps back from 120 celsius back to less then 60 celsius. wait 5 minutes and drive on again without limpmode or problems for the rest of the day, next day same procedure.

But....when i start the first 10km driving slowly with cold engine no limpmode or overheating issues, and when it is warm i can drive the car normally for the rest of the day without any problems.

Forscan trip logging:
CHT and ECT warm up nice and gradualy so i think i can rule out airpockets or faulty sensors.

but:
Forscan mentions these values on Coolant Waterpump
ECPC_F: "No Fault" (Engine Coolant Pump Control Status)
ECPC_CMD: "Engaged" (Engine Coolant Pump Control Command)
COOLANT_PMP_A: "Off" (Coolant Pump 'A' Is Commanded On)

Looks like PCM gives command to start Coolant pump but Coolant pump stays Off for whole journey from cold start to limpmode.
But does this mean there is an electrical waterpump?? Not mechanical??

Can my Limpmode begin when Thermostat opens at 5km and coolant flow is too slow because of defective waterpump?
But how come i can drive without problem when engine is warm when waterpump is defective?

Or should is search else for a resolution to this problem?
