Dealer reporting obd connection issue

Featured Replies

Hi

My Mondeo mk5 went in for a software update (dpf recall) yesterday and ford service reported back saying they couldn't get a secure connection, saying they needed to hold the cable in and didn't want to risk it.

When I got home i plugged in forscan with no issues, cleared all the connection failure codes generated by their atrempt and ran a diagnostic - no issues reported.

Dealer has a new port on order quoting £89 for part and £117 to diagnose issue.

I wrote an email saying i wasn't happy about fixing something that isnt broken and would escalate to ford if they wouldn't sort it.

Anyone experienced similar or have advice?

Thanks

Welcome!
Have they thought it may be their connector or equipment?
If you demonstrated a secure connection with your lead then that would need to be confirmed.
If they are obliged to do the update, why should you have to pay for the part when you don't have any problem with it?
However you are likely to be in a very small minority that is even aware of OBD or Forscan or anything remotely technical who is able to converse with them, so Good Luck on that.
However, it is a consumer problem and therefore:
