Focus 2015 ST3 TDCI BUYERS GUIDE

Featured Replies

We left it out. As his was absolutely soaked. And needed it done in a day ready for work the next day. In the grand scheme of things don’t think it does much anyway.

And for the sake of balance, I dried mine out and put it back in.

I am very sensitive to noise though, and the Mk3 was already loud enough at the rear.

Hi mate,

I’m about to book it in to get the vents sorted, but since the nicer weather and pulling the bungs (and 2kg of dessicant packs) the issue hasn’t returned. My mechanic reckons they updated the vent design, so gonna put 4 new vents in it.

It had a buckled alloy that wasn’t repairable on the back with 200g of weight needed to balance it. Ford don’t make it. So had to source an alloy in silver, and gonna need to get it acid dipped and painted in the rock metallic I think they are. £75+ VAT wasn’t too bad I thought, to start again.

Needs a new battery (posted a thread asking for recommendations) weak cranking when cold, the infotainment goes into battery saver really quickly etc.

Passed its MOT, just advised on rear arm bushes but they weren’t causing excessive movement.

Got it serviced up, changed the gear oil for 75W castrol. Fuel filter was absolutely minging! It did hesitate a little bit when blowing the cobwebs out properly, I won’t say at which speed, but now that’s resolved.

Also, needed to get 3 TPMS valves replaced as they were leaking, and get the front two tyres re-mounted and bead sealed since they were leaking. Losing about 8psi in a month.

Replaced the fuse box passenger cloth cover as it was missing. @TomsFocus has been super helpful through all this, the bloke is a saint.

Slowly getting there, but it’s annoying, all that money could have been spent on optional things like restoring and PPFing the Xenons, better puddle lights etc lol

How’s your ride going mate ?

Ahh brill all sounds promising. Sounds like you cracked on well with sorting most the issues. I had a new battery in mine. As it was the original Ford battery still . Got one from Halfords with a 5 year guarantee.

Yeah I think all cars have their niggles, just fingers crossed nothing big happens until getting the smaller things sorted.
