Focus Mk2 Keyless Start issue

Hi again guys,

After doing more testing and checking wiring, I’m now considering replacing the complete start kit to rule out immobilizer/configuration corruption.

The plan would be to swap:

  • PSM

  • BSM (engine bay fuse box)

  • Instrument cluster

  • Ignition barrel

  • Transponder

  • Key

Basically, a full matched set from a donor car.

My concern is the following:

Since my car originally has the Keyless system, there is an additional module involved in managing passive entry/start. I’m not sure how deeply integrated that system is in the immobilizer logic.

If I install a conventional key setup (cluster + ignition barrel + matched key + PSM/BSM), I’m wondering:

  • Will the car start normally if everything is matched from the donor?

  • Or will the Keyless control module still interfere with PATS authorization?

  • Does the BCM need to be reconfigured to remove Keyless from the vehicle configuration?

  • Has anyone done this swap on a Keyless-equipped Mk2 before?

My goal is to simplify the system and eliminate Keyless entirely if possible, but I don’t want to create an even bigger CAN/configuration conflict.

Any experience with this kind of conversion would really help before I commit to swapping everything.
