A little more info would be helpful.

- Which APIM (part number) did you use?
- Which adapter harness did you use (or did you modify the existing wiring)?
- What reverse camera is installed (original SYNC 1 or .....)?
- What is the configuration of the APIM?
- What is the configuration of the Central Car Configuration (CCC)?

Cable made to measure and the seller claims that it is 100% good. Everything checked 5 times and everything is ok

Even it is connected you will potentially have the following issue:

A 2013 Focus MK3 with SYNC 1.0 uses a reverse camera that is controlled by a separate IPMB module. Many of the SYNC 1.0 cameras and IPMB modules do not work correctly (or at all) with SYNC 3. Sync 3 uses a different reverse camera that is directly controlled by the BCM. Most MK3 BCM types are not capable to control these cameras since the required LINbus circuitry is missing.

Yes, the Fakra is connected correctly to the APIM.

To be honest I never found a solution for this problem.

Other forum posts mention that this problem can be solved by replacing the reverse camera and IPMB module for a more recent version. However many of the Focus MK3 reverse cameras and IPMB modules are no longer available and it is quite unclear which versions actually do or do not work with SYNC 3.

Others mentioned that they solved the problem by installing a more recent camera, removing the IPMB and installing a late MK3 BCM that supports the LINbus camera communication.

Both of these options are not particularly cheap and since there is almost no information about which part numbers actually work it is quite a risk.


On our own Focus MK3 ST with a SYNC 1 --> SYNC 3 retrofit (without reverse camera) I decided to go a different route. I am developing my own LINbus controller to control the camera. My LINbus controller listens to the CANbus communication for ignition status, reverse gear status, vehicle speed and steering angle. This data is used to control a Mondeo MK5/Fusion camera.
