Water incursion

Featured Replies

Where does a focus mk 3 usually leak? I have a soaking passenger foot well. The roof liner is dry. Inside the boot there is a puddle in the spare wheel well and dampness on the wheel arch trim. The car is a colander.

Everywhere.

Sounds like you have the typical rear bumper vent leak at minimum. That doesn't usually reach the front footwells though, so likely to be another leak at that end.

Thank you for your response. The rear foot Wells are dry. The front passenger foot well is a swimming pool. The front and rear roof liner is dry. So I assume the the water incursion at the front must be entering lower down.

Check the door seal along the bottom of the door. Many are hanging off, sometimes people cut them or completely pull them off rather than gluing them back on. Also worth checked whether the carpet under the glovebox is wet, as that could be from a windscreen leak. Or from a HVAC intake leak. And there's a small chance of it being a blocked AC drain, but that usually leaks into the drivers footwell.

Doors seal were replaced by me. Are there drain hole in the scuttle that can cause the problem

Yes. You can remove the wipers and scuttle to check that. If water is getting in there then chances are the pollen filter will be soaked and need replacing as well.

Thank you. I haven't got a garage or a drive, so I'm very dependent on the weather. Which of course is the author of my problem. Talk about a catch 22.
