MK4 estate electric tailgate

Featured Replies

hi All

I have a 2019 titX estate, which i love to bits. fully kitted out, except for the electric opening boot, so I am looking around to see what I can do. not going emerald, as there are too many bad stories out there, so want to go ford parts.

does anyone have the ford part numbers available?

Do they share parts between models? will the hatch ones fit? puma ones? fiesta ones? anything like that?

I can piece together the parts from all over once I have an idea of what I am actually looking for.

Any and all help appreciated.

Andy

Hi,

You can search for your own part numbers using this website. For example, tailgate parts are shown under 'body closures'.

Europe | Ford Parts Catalogs | PartSouq

Fiesta never had a powered tailgate. Puma does have a powered tailgate, but the struts are a different length due to difference in hatch size. So you specifically need Focus estate parts for a Focus estate.

The strut part number appears to be 2508794 to get you started.

many thanks, I'll start there and see what I can find, as ebay prices seem to be sky high right now.

I retrofitted the electric tailgate in my MK4 (2020). Here is mine shopping list:

Trunk lid switch - DJ5T-14K147-AA
Front switch - JX7T-19B514-AA (you also need the trimpanel)
Trunk lid module - JX7T-14B673-Ax
Anti-pinch sensor left - JX7B-N404C89-AC
Anti-pinch sensor right - JX7B-N404C88-AC
Trunk lid lock - DS7A-N442A66-BE
Left gas strut - JX7B-N404C85-xx
Right gas strut - JX7B-N404C84-xx
Gas strut bracket chassis side left - JX7B-N444A19-xx
Gas strut bracket chassis side right - JX7B-N444A18-xx
Hands-free sensor rear bumper - JX7T-14F679-BA
Hands-free sensor bracket - JX7B-17H760-xx (difference between active and standard bumper)
Tailgate wiring harness - JX6T-14405-GEAE + JX6T-13A409-GEBE (this is for early MK4 models; later Ford combined it into a single wiring harness)
I bought a donor interior+engine bay loom for all the wiring/connectors (fusebox/BCM/d-pillar connectors)

Everything works fine, except for two things:

  • The button on the key fob is not opening/closing the tailgate (I need to check the wiring again).

  • I can't figure out which As-Built settings I need to change for the foot sensor to work.

Be prepared, it is a LOT of work to get everything in place.
