PCM powertrain control module

Featured Replies

I have a mk3 Ford focus that I have recently had a message on the dash saying engine malfunction service now. it still come on now and then coursing the car to lag a bit when changing gears,I have used an OBD reader and it has picked up a few faults which are.

Braking system control module (a)

O2 oxygen sensor (bank sensor 1)

Glow plug sensor circuit

Throttle/pedal position sensor/switch circuit low

The light dose go off when I switch the engine off also the traction control light comes on and auto start and stop light comes on dose anyone know if this could be a problem with the PCM.

Hi,

Sorry but we need the actual codes, not just the descriptions. Could you also confirm which engine is in the car?

PCM failure is rare so I would not expect it to be that.

It could be the common cluster fault causing a couple of those.

Hi

Yes it is a 1.6 diesel and the code faults that I got was.

P0135

P037D

P1272

U0418

Thanks

P0135 & P037D refer to oxygen sensor

P1272 is an injector issue

U0418 means you have a flat battery

Fit a new battery, clear codes and see what comes back

Get set up on FORScan too, it reads and clears codes much better

Thanks Dave

I will have a look at this and see what happens.

Agree with Dave, except for P037D. That's likely to be a faulty glowplug or a chafed glowplug loom.

The early Mk3 1.6 TDCI often don't have an O2 sensor fitted at all. I have seen them throw this code as a red herring. It's easy to check whether you have an O2 sensor as it's fitted right at the front, on the shiny heatshield, big thick body so can't be confused with a temp sensor.

Right I will definitely have a look.I have done a battery test a few weeks ago and the battery was fine
