Deactivate default auto modes

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Company have given me a new van, a 75 plate 350 which is basically no different to my old van but.......

Headlamps and heating/ventilation all reset to 'auto' when the ignition has been switched off and back on again.

Yes it's not exactly a great hardship to then manually switched the light control to off, and tap the screen to manually set the heating but is there a way to reset these default modes, so everything does not start up in auto???

Default auto lights is mandatory on all new vehicles now. You can't deactivate that. (Not sure why you'd need to, the lights will be off in daylight anyway).

HVAC auto can usually be switched on and off so I'm not sure what's happening there.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I am not a fan personally, of auto headlamps. I drive approx 1500 miles a week and see so many other road users who it would appear are quite happy driving along thinking the car/van will take care of itself, and when it comes to poor weather or reduced visibility, still have no lights on.

I prefer to switch on/ off myself and not rely on vehicle sensors.

HVAC.....manually set when using but always rests to 'auto' when ignition restarted. Completely unnecessary.

I'm not aware of that being a particular feature. I assume a 2025 Transit uses Sync 4 the same as most new Fords. Have found these instructions for climate function when using remote start, so it might be worth switching that to last settings just in case it affects normal starts in the same way. If not, there may be another setting on the dash somewhere to control that, as usually HVAC doesn't default to auto, but I can't say for sure on the Transit.

Just had a look on that, settings, vehicle settings, but there is nothing for remote start up.

AC has the amber light on under it when ever the vehicle is started and you then have to turn it off manually. Doesn't matter what settings you had the heating set to before switching off the ignition, whether I was using AC or not, switch ignition back on, AC back on.

Ok, thanks for confirming that as it may help others in future. I'm afraid I don't think I can offer any further suggestions myself unfortunately.

On older cars the AC used to default to on every time if you had selected windscreen vent direction but it sounds like you've tried different vent options already.

Thanks for taking the time to try and assist. Even though not resolved, much appreciated.
