changing ford 6000cd FM to sony 6000cd DAB

Featured Replies

Hi as title shows, I upgraded to used sony 6000 cd DAB, for the exsisting ford 6000cd FM/AM. To my 2014 Galaxy. All working fine, including the DAB radio, except for the reversing sensors. The light on the dash come on but no beeping. Put the old unit back and sensors working fine.

So my question is it a compatability problem or is the Sony unit faulty?

Cheers TONY

If the unit is from an pre 2010 car it wont have the function for the reversing sensors to go through the speakers.

I didnt have this issue as the unit i got was from a 2014. it could be in the stereo menu, or it may have to be updated (if possible)

.Interesting, thank you for responce. There is a Dealers lable on the DAB unit with AUG 16 on it. So can I assume that is the date of the unit? Is so then it is much newer that the 2010 date you mention. So have to assume it is faulty?

Hi,

the 2016 date isnt the manufacture date. as anything from 2015 onwards had a different head unit altogether. ive always assumed its a service date or "only guaranteed to work until" date 😂

I no longer have the unit or the car it was in, so cant help much further im afraid.

it may be something that needs configured in the audio control module with forscan.

As I have done a search and had no results.

Thanks Tony

Thanks for you help any way.

The date on the unit is the expiration date.

There is usually a 5 Year period between the manufacturing date and the expiration date. Within this period the audio unit can be sold as a new item.

makes sense, than that makes the head unit a 2009 which wont support the parking sensors through the speakers as i thought.

cheapest solution is to get one from a newer donor car.

Well.  All the comments I have had, discuss about the date being significant. That is, if after 2010 then compatible.

I have noticed that on my original unit, there is the “sell by date” Aug 2019 and now notice another date 2014 which is the date of my car. That seems to confirm what some have said about the sell by date being 5 years from manufacture.

The new (second hand) unit has a date Aug 16 with the second date as 08/08/2011. That again confirms the sell by date issue. BUT if the significant date to be compatible is 2010, why does my reverse sensors beeping not working? Any further ideas please.

The significance is that in 2010 there was a facelift to the galaxy and mondeo that had reversing sensors (option) factory fitted running through the audio system. After market ir delete fitted sensors after production used a stand alone system with its own speaker for the beeping in the rear of the car.

I cant advise any further as I said because I no longer own the vehicle or stereo that was the same as yours.

Thanks all for your efforts. Looks like the best option is look for an other, later head unit. Only people I could find for Forscan was local ford dealer. Wanted £150 and no guarantees.
