Ford focus sync 3 sat nav issues

Featured Replies

Good afternoon. I am new member so forgive me if this subject matter has already been discussed and if so would someone mind pointing me in the right direction…… If not is anyone able to guide me on my issue that’s causing me a huge headache. I have a Ford focus with the sync 3 entertainment system. The radio etc is working perfectly but the Sat Nav is very temperamental. One minute I will have full signal and it’s working yet minutes later I’m showing no gps signal and it’ll show our location in a field somewhere. The strange thing is that when the sat nav starts to have its wobble our mobile phones also seem to start playing up in the car and the maps on them become temperamental. This happens all the time so can’t be coincidental. I have had the car plugged into an obd reader and there are no fault codes stored. There is however a system update available which I can’t seem to download via WiFi and am loathed to spend £160 for Ford to do it but would if I knew it would rectify the fault. Has anyone had the same issue or any ideas what the fault could be. Any advice would be grateful. Cheers

If your Sync3 version is not the latest (3.0.23219 or 3.4.23188 respectively) and if you have a spare USB stick 4GB or more, you can try a system update, downloading the package from https://www.ford.co.uk/support/sync-maps-updates . I'm not sure it would solve that problem but its free. Note that the map update that you might get after that is about 25GB so you'd need a bigger USB at that point.
